Volunteer Opportunities

Contact Beacon House at (202) 529-7376 to become a volunteer!

Tutor: Focus on Excellence
Monday 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. or Tuesday 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

One-to-one tutoring with youth utilizing a structured curriculum. Tutor is asked to commit to each weekly session and will be working with the same youth each week.

Tutor: After School Study Hall
Mon. - Thurs. 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.

Helping youth complete homework and supplemental Worksheets after school.

Tutor: Ready, Set, Read
Mon. and Wed. 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.

Tutor kindergarten through 3rd graders in a structured literacy program after school.

Tutor: College Bound
Thursday 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Tutor youth grades 8 to 12 to prepare them for the college process. Tutor is asked to commit to each Thursday and will be working with the same youth each week.

Volunteer: Reading Falcons
1st Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon

Attend field trips to the library the first Saturday of the month with you.

Volunteer: Arts and Crafts
2nd & 4th Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon

Create arts and crafts projects with youth at Beacon House on the second and fourth Saturday of the month.

Volunteer: Sierra Club Inner City Outings
3rd Saturday, time varies

Attend field trips with youth that emphasize the outdoors and the environment.
