Reverend Donald E. Robinson, M. Div.
Founder and President

Reverend Donald E. Robinson is an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister who founded Beacon House in 1991 with the support of the Edgewood residents and the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area Unitarian Universalist churches. Reverend Robinson has devoted the last thirty years of his life to improving the lives of at-risk youth, serving as a teacher, community youth counselor, social service representative, and community organizer. He has received two masters degrees; a masters degree in Divinity from Howard University School of Divinity in 1989 and a masters degree in Counseling and Community Psychology from the University of the District of Columbia in 1977. Besides his usual 24/7 commitment to Beacon House, Reverend Robinson also speaks at various UU churches, performs invocations for various agencies, and serves as a community resource for any individual in need.

Stacey Gold Erd, MSW, LICSW
Executive Director

Stacey Gold has been the Executive Director of Beacon House since 2000. She has worked closely with Beacon House and in the Edgewood Terrace community for over eight years in various capacities. Prior to her work with Beacon House, she was one of three founders of the Edgewood/Brookland Family Support Collaborative, and worked first as an intern, then employee, of at Community Preservation and Development Corporation. She received her masters degree in Social Work from Catholic University, National Catholic School of Social Service in May 1995 with a concentration in human service program planning, administration, and policy. Stacey served as an adjunct faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University, teaching graduate level social work courses including "Child Welfare" and "Social Work and Social Justice."  She curently resides on the board of hte Edgewood/Brookland Family Support Collaborative and is a member of Montgomery County's Committee on Hate Violence.

Rodney Cephas
Athletic Director

Rodney Cephas has served as Beacon House's Athletic Director since 1997. Rodney is a lifelong resident of the District of Columbia and graduated from Spingarn Senior High School. Rodney grew Beacon House's athletic program from a one man, one team operation to today managing four championship football teams, two boys and girls basketball teams, and one co-ed baseball team which serves over 150 youth and involves 25+ volunteer coaches and parents. He is committed to teaching not only physical education, but sportsmanship, discipline, and team building as well. He serves as a positive male role model to hundreds of youth. Outside of Beacon House, he is the doting of father of two girls.

Morissa Hargrove
Teen Programs Coordinator

Morissa currently serves as the Coordinator for Teen Programs.  She graduated from Garfield Senior High School, and grew up “everywhere”, she says, in a military family.  She came to D.C. in 1999 and currently attends Southeastern University. She is pursuing a degree in health service administration.  She is a volunteer at the American Red Cross, and enjoys fine art, traveling, vintage antiques, and mentoring.

Nadia McNeil, M.Ed.
Education Director

Nadia McNeil serves as Beacon House’s Education Director. She holds a Masters Degree in Education from Regent University and BS in Business Management from Georgetown University. Her past employment included work at the National Youth Service in Kingston, Jamaica, Reading is Fundamental in D.C. and Hands On Atlanta in Atlanta, GA. She was a collegiate track and field athlete at Georgetown, and is actively engaged in her community via church involvement at Great Mount Calvary, located right here on 6th and Rhode Island.

Minnie Parker
Nutrition Coordinator

Minnie Parker has worked with Beacon House since it's inception in 1991. Currently she serves in the capacity of Nutrition Coordinator, managing Beacon House's USDA sponsored after school snack and dinner program and the summer feeding breakfast, lunch, and snack program. She holds her ServeSafe Food Handlers Certificate and manages other staff in the kitchen. Ms. Parker has 5 children and 7 grandchildren, and serves as grandmother to hundreds of children and families in the Edgewood community as well.

Charles Robinson
Program Assistant

Charles Robinson serves as Beacon House's Program Assistant. He has been involved with Beacon House since 1991, working closely with Rev. Robinson from its start. Charles is a native Washingtonian and has lived in the Edgewood community for 28 years. He graduated from Phelps Career Center with a major in drafting. He works closely with youth as well as their families coordinating Saturday programs and conducting outreach. He also serves as a staff liaison to the UU churches.

Gerry Stevens-Kittner
Development Director

Gerry serves as Beacon House’s Deputy/Development Director. He spent the first 25 years of his career as a lawyer and businessman in the telecommunications field.  He became involved with Beacon House as a volunteer and Board member at its inception in 1991. He joined the staff of Beacon House as Development Director in May 2003 and became Deputy Director in May 2005.  He still practices some law in the D.C. Superior Court’s child abuse and neglect section, and serves on the board of directors of a satellite company.
