Music

Through a collaboration with the Community Preservation and Development Corp., children and youth have access to a state of the art music studio where they can learn about creating, mixing and recording music.  Expert CPDC staff work with the children and youth  individually and in  groups and teach the children and youth how to make professional quality sound recordings.

In addition, under the directorship of a volunteer children’s choir director, Beacon House children learn to sing and perform for church groups and in other venues in DC and around the beltway.

Arts and Crafts

Arts and Crafts provide opportunities for youth that stress creativity, learning and education. Led by volunteers from different metropolitan D.C. Unitarian Universalist churches, Arts and Crafts brings together volunteers and children of varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and has proven to foster a greater sense of cross-cultural understanding.

Cultural Arts at Summer Camp Leap

Cultural arts are the theme of Beacon House's summer camp program. Each year, Beacon House partners with a variety of organizations who provide dance, arts and/or music instruction.

Sierra Club Inner City Outings

Inner City Outings takes Beacon House youth once a month on a field trip outside the city that provides the opportunity to explore nature, go hiking, and learn about the environment.
