Programs

Beacon House's comprehensive array of programs aim to holistically meet the needs of the children and youth served by providing educational, social, recreational/athletic, cultural, summer camp, and outreach programs.

Programs are provided year long.  During the school year, Beacon House welcomes children and youth to its after-school programs from 3:30 to 8:30 Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  During the summer, Beacon House operates a fun and enriching summer camp from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 Monday through Friday.

During the school year, the hours of 3:30 to 5:30 are generally devoted to homework assistance, when staff and volunteers assist students with their day’s homework assignments.  A nutritious meal is offered from 3:30 to 4:30 each day.  During evening hours we operate intensive, structured tutoring programs in math and reading, as well as teen mentoring groups, college preparatory programs, dance, music and art programs, and more.  Throughout the year, we offer opportunities to play on organized football, baseball, basketball, and cheerleading teams.

Beacon House’s staff is available from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each weekday throughout the year.
