have resulted
in programming

Beacon House.

Americorp
volunteers
for FOCUS,
After School
Study Hall,
and Ready,
Set, Read.
College
Bound
pairs
teens
with
mentors/tutors
who
meet
weekly
to
work
on
math
and
language
arts
with
a
focus
on
direction
and
encouragement
towards
college.
Dance
Place
provides both
on-site and
in house dance
instruction
to youth.
D.C.
Prep
is
a
new
charter
school
located
one
block
form
Beacon
House.
D.C.
Prep
serves
primarily
youth
grades
4
to
6
and
will
expand
to
grades
7
and
8
in
2005
and
2006.
Beacon
House
serves
D.C.
Prep
students
both
at
Beacon
House
and
on
site
at
D.C.
Prep,
Mondays
through
Fridays,
running
a
homework
center
for
25
students.
The
Greater
Washington
Police
Boys
and
Girls
Club
provides
opportunities
for
Beacon
House
athletic
teams
to
participate
in
structured
league
play.
Edgewood/Brookland
Family Support
Collaborative
provides family
support and
resource information
to families,
provides staff
who run mentoring
groups, and
provides support
to programs
that serve
at-risk youth.
For
Love of Children
/Neighborhood
Tutoring Pogram
(NTP) is the
program FOCUS
on Excellence
is modeled
after, where
Beacon House
is an established
"external
NTP site."
Girl
Scout
Council
of
the
Nation's
Capital
provides
support
to
the
Beacon
House
Girls
Scouts
Troop
#4938.
The
Metropolitan
D.C.
area
Unitarian
Universalist
churches
provide
a
tremendous
amount
of
support
to
Beacon
House
via
volunteers,
sponsoring
events,
holiday
toy
and
food
drives,
school
supply
drives,
and
much
more.
Beacon
House
partners
and
supports
Unitarian
Universalists
for
Social
Justice,
who
help
UU's
in
the
Baltimre-Washington
and
Northern
Virginia
area
carry
out
their
social
and
economic
justice
agendas.
Beacon
House
is
also
a
member
of
the
Joseph
Priestly
District
of
the
Unitarian
Universalist
Association.
People-Animals-Love
(PAL)
is an on-site
after school
and summer
camp program
that teached
children how
to interact
and care for
resident PAL
pets and learn
about animals
and science
in an enjoyable
and creative
way.
Shaed
and
Noyes
Elementary
Schools
provide
support
to
Beacon
House
in
planning
programs,
coordinating
special
projects,
and
identifying
youth
with
greater
needs.
Sierra
Club Inner City
Outings takes Beacon
House youth
once a month
on a field
trip outside
the city to
explore nature,
go hiking,
and learn
about the
environment.
