Nutrition

The Nutrition Program began in 1992; feeding about 50 children each day after school.

Today, the Beacon House after-school Nutrition Program provides on average, over 125 free meals to the children and youth who come to our two centers each day after school.  We estimate that we serve roughly 24,000 meals per year.  For some children, they are the most nourishing and complete meals during their day.  In addition to the meal itself, we regularly teach children what constitutes a healthy and balance diet, and the Nutrition Program helps the children develop healthy eating habits.
